The feathered crow decoy is used for visual bird deterrence on small areas. Dead birds trigger a flight instinct in their conspecifics. The more dead specimens the birds see lying or hanging, the greater the effect. It is particularly effective to hang the decoy on a string. This shows the crows that death was caused by one of their enemies – humans. The crow decoy is made of plastic with real feathers.
Operating Principle
The crow decoy is placed or hung on the desired area. When setting it up, a position should always be chosen from which the decoy is clearly visible to the birds. To achieve optimal protection, several decoys should be hung up and, if necessary, combined with additional bird deterrent devices.
After all crows have been driven away, the decoy should be removed again to avoid habituation. If the crows return, simply hang the decoy up again.
