Information on the disposal of used batteries
1. free-of-charge return of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries so that proper disposal can be ensured. You can hand over used batteries at a municipal collection point or at a local retailer. As a distributor of batteries, we are also obliged to take back used batteries, whereby our obligation to take back used batteries is limited to the types of batteries that we sell or have sold as new batteries in our product range. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned types to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge to our dispatch warehouse at the address given in the imprint.
2. meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are labelled with the symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. For batteries that contain more than 0.0005 per cent of mercury, more than 0.002 per cent of cadmium or more than 0.004 per cent of lead, the chemical symbol for the respective pollutant is located under the dustbin symbol – ‘Cd’ stands for cadmium, ‘Pb’ for lead, and ‘Hg’ for mercury.
